World series of poker
World Series of Poker is a serious poker tournament. Actually - he most serious and the most expected one.
The idea of the World Series of Poker, a major poker tournament which would gather players from all over the world was invented back n 1970 by a group of big time gamblers and the casino owner Benny Binion. All of them liver and made their living in Las Vegas.
Binion was the founder and the host of the legendary Horseshoe casino, it was the first gambling establishments among those, which we call Vegas-style casinos now. It provided high-stakes games and respectful attitude to gamblers. 'If you wanta get rich, make little people feel like big people', Binion used to say.
The first WSOP tournament was held at the Horseshoe casino. Legendary player gambler Johnny Moss won by players vote that year.
Since the next year, the winner was the one who managed to remain the only player in chips.
After Benny Binions death hard times came to Horseshoe, but traditionally every year the main poker tournament of the year was held there.
Last year, Harrahs Entertainment, another Vegas gambling giant, bought the casino and the rights to hold the WSOP. Thats why most of this years WSOP events have been held in Harrahs casinos.
However, the final game was player at the Horseshoe, as that is more than a tradition. Thats the law. World Series of Poker and the Horseshoe casino cant exist without each other.
